"Raskas Patteristo 23 perustettiin 18-19.6.1941 Hausjärvellä.
Se toimi hyökkäysvaiheessa 12.D:n tukipatteristona Karjalan kannaksella.
Syksyllä1941 patteristo moottoroitiin ja sen tykkikalustoksi vaihdettiin nykyaikainen ja tehokas 152 H38.
Kenttäarmeijan uudelleenjärjestelyissä patteristosta tuli 3.Prikaatin Raskas Patteristo, jonka tie vei Maaselän kannakselle.
Kevättalvella 1942 patteristo nimettiin "Ukkospatteristoksi" ja helmikuussa 1944 Raskas Patteristo 33:ksi.
Raskas Patteristo 33 osallistui 3.Prikaatin mukana kesän 1944 torjuntataisteluihin Karjalan kannaksella ja oli omalta osaltaan luomassa Tali-Ihantalan torjuntavoittoa.
Kirjan lukuisten tilannekarttojen avulla Ukkospatteriston sotapolkua voi seurata perustamisesta sen lopettamiseen asti.

"Heavy Battery 23 was founded on 18-19.6.1941 in Hausjärvi. 
During the offensive phase, it served as a support battery for the 12th Division on the Karelian Isthmus. In the autumn of 1941, the battery was motorized and its artillery equipment was replaced with the modern and efficient 152 H38. In the reorganization of the field army, the battery became the 3rd Brigade Heavy Battery, whose route took it to the Maaselä Isthmus.
In the spring and winter of 1942, the battery was named "Thunder Battery" and in February 1944, Heavy Battery 33. Heavy Battery 33 participated with the 3rd Brigade in the defensive battles on the Karelian coast in the summer of 1944 and was instrumental in creating the defensive victory at Tali-Ihantala. With the help of the book's numerous situation maps, the Thunder Battery's war path can be followed from its establishment to its termination.
The abundant photographic material is mainly unpublished."
